Deanna Herst (Netherland)

deannaDeanna Herst is a curator, producer, critic and lecturer. Graduated as an art historian (MA, Utrecht University), she specialized incontemporary art, photography/media theory and semiotics.As a curator and concept developer in the field media art and photography, she has been working for several organizations like Paradox, Impakt Festival, NFI and NAI.She has been lecturing media theory at Sint Joost Academy, Post-St.Joost/Sandberg Institute, Utrecht University (Digital Media and Representation),University of Amsterdam (New Media), Hochschule für Kunst und Gestaltung Zürich.Her current interests include emerging new media art practices in South East Asia, especially Indonesia.Since 2006 she has been teaching at the Willem de Kooning Academy, currently as Course Director Theory & Media.


Michal Mariánek (Czech Rep)
Michal_Marianek-live_2004_1Michal Mariánek is czech audio-visual artist, pedagog, cuarator and coordinator of cultural events. He has been experimenting in domain of digital arts since 1997. His interests include computer games design, social networking, audiovisual performances and electronic music.
Since 2002 he has focused on DSP (digital signal processing).  This experience brought him to his solo electronic performance project „Alfama" .The core here was an electronic music inspired by "glitch", accompanied in places by a synth. He has been also participating on several collaborative projects. Most important has become project „Antigravity" with a Tokyo based choreographer and champion of Japanese contemporary dance Yoko Higashino (BABY-Q).  He lives and works in Prague.

Ondřej Skala (Czech Rep)
photo-not-availableMusic project of young artist Ondřej Skala ( studies at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and currently phd studies at academy of fine arts prague  ) focused mainly on fine art, video art, public space art and performances is characterized by his entertaining personality. His music performances which he describes with exaggeration as "breakcore-ambient" are made by strong sophisticated breaking rhytms and broken melodies presented in electronic  as so as instrumental ways. His human beatbox performances combined with digital instruments give the right meaning to the term "live electronic". He supported on stage lots of famous names  such as Otto von schirach, Kid 606, Black dice, dj rupture, Jason Forrest, Bong-ra and many others on live shows over europian music festivals and gigs.
Darina Alster (Czech Rep)
PortretwebDarina Alster (*1979) is visual artist, performer, pedagog , curator and coordinator of cultural events. She lives and works in Prague. She is mostly working with performance and video. Main topics of her artistic interest are Time, Spirituality, Identity and Relation ships. In her performances, she exceeds  borders of known reality , interupting  real situations with unknown and iracional things, then they will become the subconscious.  She is mostly experimenting with „new“media,  combine them with archaic medias, as a Astrology, Tarot, Mytology, Fairytales or other kinds of Archetypes. Her known projects are: Treasure, Piet, Confessional, Personal Tarot and Naked Lunch. She was five years teaching art at private secondary school, she was assistent of curator of NoD Gallery in Prague. Currently she feels to be medial artist and freelance curator.
Mar Canet (Austria)
mar-canetMar Canet, is computer game engineer and designer. After finish his BA in digital design was two years fellowship to ESDI, school of design, and later he went to England to study computer Bsh games development at University Central Lancashire. Currently living in Linz, Austria, working for Ars electronica, and MA student in Interface culture program at Art univesity of linz. He is interested in data visualization, computer games and new media art.

Since 2004, he is involved in art and curatorships projects with his collective Derivart (http://www.derivart.info) that focuses on the finance art, exploring the intersection of finance, art and technology. He has exhibited his pieces in many international festivals and museus like: File 2005(Sao Paulo), Observatori 2007(Valencia), Pure Project gallery NYC (2007),Homo Ludens in La Laboral(2008/Gijon), derivart solo exhibition in Abello Museum (2008/Barcelona), Winter film festival and media of Stuttgart (2009).

Varvara Guljajeva (Estonia-Austria)

varvaraVarvara is a new media artist from Estonia but currently living and
working in Linz, Austria. She has a master degree in Digital Media from International School of New Media at the University of Lübeck, Germany.
Varvara started her artistic career from video and photography, later got
fascinated about electronic art. However, she believes that medium is not
important - an idea is the core. Thus, the artist do not set any borders
to a medium. Her works are the reflection of my thoughts and observations of our society.
