07-08-09 EA Channel Meeting at Suralaya Peak

The EA (Europe-Asia) Channel Meeting, this year on cellsbutton#03 took place on Suralaya Peak, Samigaluh, Northwest of Yogyakarta.
The chill wind of the climate at Suralaya made most of participants tighten their jacket, blanket or sleeping bag, while attending the discussion and presentation from each speakers.
Below are the list of participants who gave presentation and open discussion :
1. Michal Marianek and Darina Alsina (Czech Rep.) gave presentation about Ciant and ENTER festival in Prague
2. Somaya Langley (Australia) gave presentation about Electrofringe, a festival of electronic arts and culture, that will happen in October 2009, in Newcastle, Australia
3. Tengal Drilon (Philippines) gave presentation about ASEUM festival that happen in Manila, Philippines.


06-08-09 Breakcore_labs#03 2009 at Slackers Distro

The third series of breakcore_LABS held in Cellsbutton#03. We have planned it for a long time for breakcore_LABS to be a part of Cellsbutton festival agenda, although the continuity of breakcore_LABS serves, as a solitary program will still continue. The theme for 0.3? “Get off routines! Cut off the fake publicities! Shootout with all your guts and get your *** down here!” A special feature in breakcore_LABS 0.3 was that we had special artistic media performances from cellsparticipants. We also got a big contribution from Slackers Community itself, that helped in the producing of breakcore_LABS 0.3.
06-08-09 Media Studies Presentation at Sanata Dharma University

Series of presentations at the University of Sanata Dharma Master faculty Culture and Religion. It was opened by Peter Tomaz Dobrilla of KIBLA  Maribor, Slovenia  presented a Pure Energy, and how KIBLA  multimedia centre organized and built a series of activities.

The presentation then followed by Ferdi Thajib from Kunci Cultural Studies presented  results of research on creative communities in Yogyakarta in the perspective of cultural conditions, social, political, and economic development in Indonesia.
06-08-09 Presentation at Duta Wacana University

Busy day. The first session on today agenda will take place only 1 km away from HONFlab. Informatics Engineering Faculty of Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) led by Mr. Karel J. Tampubolon has been collaborating with us in creating series of workshops, presentations and discussions relating to art, science and technology.

Somaya Langley opened the session in the teleconference room with a presentation about Electrofringe, a digital, electronic and new media art festival based in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. Its focus is on emergent forms and techniques within media based arts practice and place a particular emphasis on encouraging young and emerging artists to interact with established artists.
05-08-09 cellsFemale at Kersan Art Studio

At Kersan  Art Studio, in the middle of one village in Yogyakarta, cellsfemale was held on the afternoon accompany with a warm tea also fried banana and tempe.
On cellsfemale, the female participants also added with some visitors from the activists (NGOs), artists, writers and female artists who came from Yogyakarta made a discussion, and sharing experiences.
Each participants introduced themselves, told their work process and express opinions with a respect to the general view of sloping against women and technology. On this occasion also some artists like Darina Alster recount the making process of her work, Koni Herawati recounts the process of becoming a woman artist who does not get support from her family, and many more sharing experiences of some participants. Discussions occur with the warm and intimate with the moderator Ferial Affif.
