1st Session

This is the first presentation and workshop for Cellsbutton#01 – Yogyakarta International Media Art Festival. Gajah Mada University provide an instrument laboratory at Faculty of Physic Engineering for the presentation and workshop to be held. The first lecturers were Pradhono Rakhmono Aji (Aji) and Achmad Pradekso (Achmad) giving presentation about robotic technology using artificial intelligence. They both are alumnus of UGM and have made several robots previously in their works. Aji was working on the robotic movement systems and hardware while Achmad was working its programming and artificial intelligence.
After their presentation, there were presentations lectured by 2 students from Physic Engineering. The first one presents his work about car security system using mobile phones and Global Positioning System (GPS) to track the car position if it gets stoles. The second student was presenting her work about Tsunami detector using sensory system placed in the ocean. Both of their works were using an easy to find common tools and have successfully tested by simple testing methods.
Ariadna Alsina Tarres (Ari) (http://ari-at.net) from Spain come shortly after the students. She is a media art artist specialize in sound art and sound interactive installation. In this session she presented her previous installation work called ‘All Our Yesterday’. Also she was playing other soundscape samples from her previous works.
Last but not least, a presentation by RyBN (http://rybn.org) from France. There are 3 person involved in this group which are Kévin Bartoli (Kevin), Jean-Marie Boyer (Jack) and Marika Dermineur (Marika). RyBN present their art research project called Antidatamining (ADM) (http://antidatamining.net) based on the recovery and the viewing (visualization) of Web-extracted data. In this project the RyBN created various audiovisual and digital works such as installations and websites – written, fed and updated in real time.
2nd Session
Faculty of Biotechnology, Gajah Mada University Yogyakarta

In the conference room Faculty of Biotechnology the 2nd session was started by Professor Irfan Dwidja and Professor Jaka Widada explanations about microorganisms and biotechnology. Following after their presentation, Venzha gave a short presentation about media art and its connectivity with biotechnology research and development.
