Thursday, 23 August 2007 1st Session Faculty of Culture and Religion, Sanata Dharma Christian University of Yogyakarta (USD) 10:00 AM Cellsbutton#01 education focus program continued on the 3rd day with a workshop at USD at the 1st session. Took place at one of USD Post Graduate Faculty of Culture and Religion Class Room, Brian Sherry (Brian) (http://misterbeebo.vox.com) and Clare Shanahan (Clare) (http://clareshanahan.blogspot.com) from Ireland Republic started their collaborative work presentation. Brian is a digital film maker and Clare is a media artist based on fine arts. In this session they focused on the concept and outputs of their works with creating an interactive discussion with the audience. Their latest work called ‘An Electronic Monologue’ was discussed here especially in the non traditional techniques that were developed in order to create the face and voice of the animated character, and the background surrounding the piece that were placed in a popular product called iPod. By doing so, Brian and Clare created a little machine with real emotional issues. They were also explained the technical information and the artistic development behind the character and what he says on this work. Second presentation in line was Marika Dermineur (Marika) (http://marika.incident.net) from RyBN group, France. Marika is also Active member of the experimental web platform called Incident.net (http://incident.net). In this period she presented her collaborative work called Google House (http://googlehouse.net) which was made in 2003. She collaborates with Stephane Degoutin to make a Flash animation composed of pictures culled from Google's image search. The project animates the images, like shifting tiles, into a house that consists of rooms each one based off a keyword, all constantly in flux. Illustrating the unstable classification of images and varying links between them, Googlehouse.net continually breaks apart and re-constitutes. After Marika’s Google House, Ariadna Alsina Tarres (Ari) from Spain gave her presentation. On this presentation she showed the audience her soundscape work in Helsinki which was a collaborative work she did in 2006 (http://mlab.uiah.fi/asef/). It was made in the 4th Asia Europe ArtCamp, “Hearing Helsinki”. ASEF - University of Art and Design (UIAH) with Hasan Murod and Kathrine Oberrauch. Ari also presented ‘Funes’; a Dance performance with audiovisuals and interactive music in Sala Polivalent de l’Auditori, Barcelona, Spain on 2006. In ‘Funes’, Ari’s role was to make soundscape which animation were done by D.L. Jaramillo and Huy Nguyen.
