2nd Session
Culture Centre Francais Yogyakarta/Lembaga Indonesia Prancis Yogyakarta (LIP)
07:00 PM
RyBN was giving their workshop in this session inside the auditorium of LIP. It was the first part of their workshop about software that was used to make their Antidatamining work. Kevin and Jack also use this software for experimental Visual Jockeying on Cellsdisco. The software itself called Pure Data (http://puredata.org) which is a free downloadable software developed by Miller Puckete from France in the 1990s. Pure Data, also known as PD, is graphical programming language software for programming the creation of interactive computer music and multimedia works. PD is very similar to Max/MSP where both of this software is arguably examples of dataflow programming languages. In such languages, functions or "objects" are linked or "patched" together in a graphical environment which models the flow of the control and audio. But unlike PD, Max/MSP is not free downlodable software. Kevin, Jack and Marika were explaining the benefits of PD, what data they were used to process with PD, and what PD generates from it.

Performance Concert
Culture Centre Francais Yogyakarta/Lembaga Indonesia Prancis Yogyakarta (LIP)
10:00 PM

After the workshop, Kevin and Jack from RyBN then make a visual performance collaborating with music performance by Electrocore (http://myspace.com/electrocore_indonesia) from Yogyakarta, Indonesia and Terror Incognita (http://myspace.com/terrorincognitanoise) from Semarang, Indonesia. Electrocore and Terror Incognita are Experimental Electronic music groups and in this performance they were collaborating in playing noise music. Electrocore’s Venzha were using analogue music instruments while Bambang Rahmantyo also known as Bamby from Terror Incognita using electronic musical instruments. As they both were having fun with generating loud noises and responding to others each others’ Kevin and Jack’s visual were displayed in the back by using 2 LCD projectors. The visuals were responding simultaneously to the sounds and noises outputs by its three dimensional movements, shapes and colours. It was simply a beautiful display of pixels graphics without using any videos or picture images. The visuals created a unique mixture from Venzha’s and Bamby’s experimental music.
