2nd Session
Own Café, Sagan, Yogyakarta
07:00 PM
The 2nd session of workshop and presentation took place outside Own café sagan, A cosy place with good beverages and wireless internet connection in the central region of Yogyakarta. The first presentation was given by two person using JackD2 and Zeth as their nickname. They were representative of a hacker community in Yogyakarta. In this workshop they were explaining how to hack an internet website and how to gather information from it. They use a world famous rock band’s website as an example of their work. By opening the website and copy some information from it, they were successfully gather valuable information such as user e-mail address, password and even web scripts. With the gathered information, they can enter the website as an administrator and change web’s scripts with whatever they want. In this case, they only make a little graffiti in a form of html texts in that website. It was similar with a graffiti using html as its wall. Later on, they asked the audiences to open the hacked website to see the graffiti they made appeared inside that website.
Following after the hacker presentation, Putu Hendra Brawijaya (Saylow) (http://saylows.com) from Bali, Indonesia presented his work in web designs and development. As a web designer and developer, Saylow explained about the standard procedures on how to build a website. After showing some of his previous web designs, Saylow responded to website hacking actions on the internet. As he explained, it was frustrating for web designers and their clients to prevent important information get stole. It is a critical issue in his profession because he needs to make sure that his work is secure from the hackers. Saylow then described counter measures of what he could do to prevent his website hacked and how to react if he found out his website was hacked.

Installation Work
The House of Natural Fiber (HONF) Space
07:00 PM

At HONF space in Wora-wari street no. A80/6 Baciro, Yogyakarta, an installation work was displayed. The installation work was made by Ariadna Alsina Tarres (Ari) from Spain and Therese Schuleit (Therese) from Germany. This event was not published in any Cellsbuton#01 publication because it was planned during the festival. The installation work is called Presence/Absence.

Despite of having a bit technical difficulties to display their installation, Ari and Therese managed to pull it of even though, they never tested the technical issues before. Their installation was using two projectors that displayed videos of two empty rooms. Through out the videos, there were sounds of two persons typing keyboards from the speakers. It sounded like they were chatting and continuously responding to others typing.

After a few moments, there was a discussion between Ari and Therese with the audience concerning of their installation. As they explained, Into the context of Euro-Asian Channel (EA Channel), Presence/Absence is related to the fact that because of the physical distance between the members of the group, the community is based in internet for meetings and communication of information. This fact makes them feel the presence of other members in some special way; they “are” together while they have chat meetings, but anyway, nobody is at the same physical space.

They also added into their explanation how Server Technology and Net Data exchange, art pieces can be projected into real spaces and vice versa. By using those technologies, it is possible to arrange one exhibition in two spaces and cities. But how to orchestrate absence in contrast to presence, when one is able to extend its presence through technology? How can a medium represent this dialectic medial presence? By this inspiration, they focused on their project and presented Presence/Absence work they have done until Cellsbutton#01. After the installation they made in HONF, they are planning to expand this installation project further more in the near future.
