It was the second part of RyBN’s workshop continuing their previous one at LIP. On this part, the workshop was given at second floor of Kedai Kebun Forum Yogyakarta (KKF) which is an art gallery and restaurant in south side part of Yogyakarta. KKF is well known for art exhibition and art performance place. In this second part of workshop, Kevin, Jack and Marika were continuing with Pure Data (PD) workshop by giving basic knowledge, operating and environment on PD.
Inside the room with three wide screen installed, the audience received valuable information on how to use PD for basic audio and visual processing. With step by step explanations on each tools in PD interface environment, Kevin, Jack and Marika showed how to generate and controlling sounds signals from their laptop computers with using a simple programming in PD. As for the visual programming, Kevin, Jack and Marika were using a Graphics Environment for Multimedia (GEM) tools in PD. GEM was displaying rendered graphics, objects, and videos that was processed by PD. They explained how to make an easy to move and rotate three dimensional cube with video graphic textured on its’ surfaces. With a simple programming from them, the cube were then moved and rotated simultaneously with the video attached. After the explanations and answers to various questions from the audiences, they also showed many interesting audiovisuals work samples from PD libraries.
The workshop later on was turning into a small discussion after Kevin, Jack and Marika’s explanations on controlling other hardware devices and computers using PD. With the interested audiences, They formed in a group and gives direct explanations using their laptops. After satisfying the curiosity from the audiences, this day program was closed with a little conversation between artists, audiences and the officials that were following the workshop.
