The House of Natural Fiber (HONF) is proud to present microCELLS a pre – event of the incoming Cellsbutton#04 in July – August 2010. microCELLS will consist of interdisciplinary workshops, presentations and discussion during 9 January to 2 February 2010 as a test case for several “invisible” projects that will be initiated in Cellsbutton#04, 2010. microCELLS will consist many programs that is intended to be a platform for collaborative works and projects.

microCELLS primarily is set to be an introduction on HONF’s latest initiative project called Lab.2.Lab that was prepared and tested during YIVF#05, 2009. Lab.2.Lab will focus on work outputs and researches that have been done previously or still in working progress to be used in a working platform of collaborations based on interdisciplinary working method. In this long-term program, HONF will act as facilitators and also actors and decided to initiate microCELLS to be the event that will host Lab.2.Lab first phase. With several steps in Lab.2.Lab programs, HONF intend to use microCELLS in the creation of a team formation that will identify issues and problems in the early stages. microCELLS will help the team to prevent and minimalize problems in the next phases of the program.

microCELLS is also intended to build the working collaboration atmosphere of interdisciplinary communities. The first interaction and knowledge exchange from both sides is crucial to determined next phases in the program and to sufficiently applying the knowledge in the collaboration in to a concrete outputs that is beneficial to the communities as well in aesthetic abilities. Different approaches might be needed to overcome the difference in perspective and working method, microCELLS will be the first approach in learning each other content to determine and share the vision of togetherness could achieve.

Lab.2.Lab early phase will commence in both local and international during at the same time. The first phase of Lab.2.Lab in Indonesia will occur during microCELLS, inviting local and international artists to engage with local communities in Yogyakarta. Several communities that involved in microCELLS are Galia Community, DeadMediaFm, Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Biotechnology Faculty, Energy Room, BIBLIO – Alternative Library Forum and many more.

“We’re looking for the invisible! And with togetherness we’ll overcome the invisible and become one! With this start, we see Cellsbutton#04 – Invisible Cells as our destination in presenting beneficial outputs in both directions to outer our communities and inside. Learning and progressing as our curriculum of Education Focus Program (EFP) have helped us in evolving and adjusting our role to accommodate the local communities for the last 10 years. We have reached a milestone more than we have expected, but thousands waits in our path. We realized that we are small, but from those small things we have evolved. For a new step and beginning of The House of Natural Fiber in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, we devoted ourselves think the unthinkable, to touch the untouchable and to see the invisible. One minor step we take in the early 2010 for our remaining long and distant path. We bring you, microCELLS >> a prelude to Cellsbutton#04: Invisible Cells – Yogyakarta International Media Art Festival.”
